Slow Cooker Steel Cut OatmealSteel cut oatmeal makes a great breakfast any day of the week. You get a warm and filling meal to get you started right and the fiber will leave you feeling full all of the way until lunch. You can also change the flavorings each time so you won’t get bored!

I love cooking steel cut oatmeal in the slow cooker because the texture ends up great and you can set a timer and have it ready when you wake up!

I just toss everything in before bed and in eight hours I’ve got fresh oatmeal. (No worries if it sits longer, it’ll still taste fine.)

Ingredients

2 cups steel cut oats
10 cups water
1 1/2 tsp salt
4 tbsp butter
1 cup raisins
1 tbsp sugar
2 tsp cinnamon

Optional Toppings

Milk
Sugar
Butter
Cinnamon
Syrup
Chocolate chips
Berries

Directions

  1. Put all of the ingredients in a six quart slow cooker. (You can use a 2 quart if you halve all of the ingredients.)
  2. Mix everything up.
  3. Cover and cook on low for eight hours. If you want it done sooner you can reduce water by 1 cup and cook for 6 hours instead.
  4. When you’re ready to eat, you may notice dry bits around the edge. Just stir them in and enjoy.
