In planning for what I want to accomplish here, I feel it is best to proceed in a way that is akin to telling a story. This will include my own experiences of healing and aging, personal and academic, which will create the framework for laying on information and recommendations that support the subject at hand…In other words, I will start with what I know— what has worked for me and for others in dealing with the challenges of living and aging well in this society, and will weave in relevant info from the varied sources of literature I have read, listened to, studied and reviewed recently and over time.
In order to gain optimal health and aging, it is imperative to encompass the different aspects of being human—body, mind, spirit, and soul–and to be ever mindful of the effect and influence that each area has on the others. The place to begin for me has been to bring the body back into balance by providing all of the nutrients and care it needs. This process has given me a jump start on attending to all the rest—mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of myself.
So, in the spirit of being a human “being” and not a human “doing,” I will start by sharing the things that I don’t do—which just may be more important than the things that I do do—in setting up the right conditions for optimal health to become manifest. For instance, not smoking and not over consuming alcohol is a no brainer. Eliminating all wheat and other gluten containing grains has been the most important thing for me so that I can now properly absorb the necessary nutrients that my body needs to repair and restore. I don’t eat any bovine products that are not grass fed and those I don’t have a complete personal history on—testing for mad cow disease is too sporadic and too many “downer” cows are slaughtered for human consumption. I don’t eat chicken—free range, organic, or otherwise—because it causes my blood platelets to coagulate due to my particular blood type. I drink as little of fluoridated and chlorinated water as possible. I don’t watch television for the most part of 20 years now. I don’t listen to commercial radio except for Coast to Coast AM.
So, what have you been actually “doing,” Leila?
Over the past few years, I have been fortunate to be able to purchase and review to a variety of current audiobooks and ebooks about the different aspects of health, anti-aging, longevity, and many more interesting subjects. The links for these digitally formatted books are provided throughout this site so you can educate yourself further on the intriguing world of optimal health and aging. Don’t just take my word for it. I am just skimming the surface of the vast body of knowledge. These sources are full of scientific studies and validations of the benefits of nutritional supplements and natural therapies that have been discounted often disdained by mainstream medicine and media.
Being privy to this information has been a vital part of my quest for healing and rejuvenation . Most of the authors are medical doctors and they present their knowledge in in a way that it is easy to comprehend and implement into one’s life. I have done some of the work for you by seeking, locating, and reviewing the literature, but I cannot do all of the work for you. You will need to explore, learn, and apply to your life whatever is best for you. I will also tell you later on about a simple technique that will tell you exactly what particular products and information that will most benefit you at this time.
