Grapefruit is a great addition to a breakfast or snack but it gets kind of boring eating plain grapefruit all of the time, even with how healthy and low calorie it is. Try this to spruce up your grapefruit! You’ll never want to eat it plain again.

Ingredients

  • 1 chilled grapefruit, cut in half
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp honey

Directions

  1. Preheat the broiler and spray your baking sheet with a bit of cooking spray.
  2. Prop the grapefruit up so they are peel down on the sheet. You may need to use rolled up foil to get them to stand up.
  3. Sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon over the grapefruit halves.
  4. Drizzle honey over both of them.
  5. Broil for 5 minutes or until becoming slightly darkened.

Ingredients

8 cups loosely-packed seeded watermelon chunks
1/4 cup packed fresh mint leaves
12 ounces sparkling water
Sugar
Ice cubes
Mint sprigs (for garnish)

* Also great using mangos or blood oranges instead of watermelon.

Directions

  1. To process easily, divide the watermelon into 2-cup portions. Add the mint leaves to one portion.
  2. Using a blender, puree each portion of the watermelon returning the puree to a large pitcher.
  3. Once all four batches of puree have been added, stir in the sparkling water.
  4. Depending on the sweetness of the watermelon, sugar may be needed to sweeten the drink. Just add one tablespoon of sugar at a time, stirring well until you reach the desired sweetness.
  5. Chill for 1 hour. Serve over ice with a mint sprig for garnish.
